Objectives:
The aim of the course is to discuss key issues affecting the West African sub-region in the area of establishment,
regulation and supervision of bank and financial holding companies, particular to share international experiences from other jurisdictions around
the world and provide valuable inputs into how the sub-region can effectively establish holding companies as well as carry out consolidated
supervision of existing banks and holding companies in the sub-region. The aim is to curb the numerous kinds of risks facing consolidated
entities in the sub-region – namely contagion risk, regulatory arbitrage, autonomy risk, transparency risk and concentration risks amongst others.
